Pledge? A federal appeals court in San Francisco, on June 26, 2002, declared the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional beause of the words "under God" added by Congress in 1954. The ruling, if allowed to stand, means school children in the nine Western states covered by the court can no longer recite the Pledge. The 9th Circuit covers Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington state. No other states are immediately affected by the ruling. |

Sex Is Not Magic The message of safe sex is the new rallying cry for individual freedom. It is the cry of the sexually promiscuous, and particularly the homosexual community. With the revelation in 1991 that Ervin "Magic" Johnson (then Los Angeles Laker superstar) had contracted the HIV virus, we were further treated to the idea that he was some kind of "hero" for his courageous stance in the face of the disease, and especially for his campaign to educate children on "safe sex." This is the new kind of "hero" for kids today.
