October 1938 to May 1, 2018
Al (Albert) was born in Los Angeles, California, and raised as a Roman Catholic. After graduating from high school, he attended Los Angeles City College. His goal was to become an architect. He was drafted and served two years in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, Albert was employed as a manager of a political bookstore known as “Poor Richards.” One day a regular customer asked if he could share some scriptures from the Bible with him after working hours. Albert agreed. The truths found in the Bible completely changed the direction and purpose of his life. As a result, he became born again in September of 1964.
For a period of time, he was employed with Hermano Pablo Ministries, a radio and television ministry to Latin America. He served as their audio-visual engineer, graphic artist, and publications manager. Then in 1977, the Lord put it on his heart to begin Media Spotlight, A Biblical Analysis of Religious & Secular Media. It was the first national ministry to consistently address the issues in the mass media affecting the lives of Christians. During the course of his life, he appeared on local and national television and radio programs. He was a guest speaker and teacher at Christian seminars, churches, and Christian schools and colleges.
Besides producing the Media Spotlight quarterly journals and many Special Reports, he authored seven books:
- Vengeance Is Ours: The Church in Dominion,
- The World Christian Movement, A Great Delusion Leading to the Religio-Political State of the Anti-Christ,
- The House Assembly: Recapturing the First-Century Model for the Gathering of the Saints,
- What Do You Believe: Why Do You Believe it? What Is the True Gospel?
- A False Doctrine of Subtle Purpose
- “The Day of Yahweh: A Biblical Eschatology With a Study on the Book of Revelation.

Al served the Lord and Body of Christ with his wife Jean for over forty-one years. He made a huge impact on the lives of countless people, while fulfilling the desire of his heart—serving the Lord with love and concern for the Body of Christ.
Excerpts from some of the many who will miss Al:
From Carolyn W: “When I lose a friend these days, I think of John Donne’s poem No Man is an Island, and the line, “Every man’s death diminishes me”. We feel that there is just a little bit less of us, but can find comfort in knowing that the increase belongs to our departed one and God’s Kingdom.
From Jacob P: It is with a predictable combination of sorrow and joy that we learned that our friend & brother Al Dager has gone to be with The Lord. Al was a solid and much respected voice for discernment and strong scriptural doctrine in the present age of intense satanic attack on the truths of God’s Word. Al completed his role in the work of the Watchmen as a voice of truth in an age of apostate deception.
From Jackie A: My heart is sad — Al was such a good influence on me over the decades — like a big brother in the LORD. He was always willing to help when I had questions about teachers and movements — He was an early form of google. Great is his reward for his labor of love in the kingdom. His tireless work on Media Spotlight will live on and on for future generations. I shared this on Facebook:
From Dennis H:
What a man of God. Volumes can be written about him and still would not be enough, a man that loved to talk Bible anytime. And Jean his wonderful wife—such a team for God who
communicated God’s word to forgotten ones such as those in prison who regularly received Media Spotlight.
From Zanna B:
What a special man. He stayed with us late into the night when our daughter died and spoke at her service when none of us could. He will be missed.
From Al M:
I went to High School with Al… He was such a close friend. He was in our wedding 60 years ago…. Many times when he and Jean would come down to L. A. he would call to have dinner with
us on our Anniversary. He was truly a Crusader for the Lord. Al hoped to someday be greeted by the Lord with the words, “Well done good and faithful
servant.” That day came, without doubt, May 1, 2018.
