PAGAN CHRISTIANITY
Authors: Frank Viola & George Barna
When Jesus said, “You are Peter (Petros) and upon this rock (petra) I will build My ekklesia (called-out assembly),” it is certain that He did not have in mind an institution that would be governed by a hierarchy of professional clergymen. But men being what they are, their flesh leads them to seek other men to be their spiritual heads. Just as Israel desired of God that He give them a king, Christians desire priests, pastors, and other ministers to tell them what they must do in order to please God. And they are more than willing to pay for the privilege of sitting under the tutelage of those clergy men.

ANGELS ON ASSIGNMENT
Authors: Charles and Frances Hunter
The Hunters assume too much when they seek to explain the ministry of angels. Like so many charismatics, their theology is based upon experience, feelings and fantasy more than upon the clear teaching of God's Word. Yet this book, for all the years it has been published, is still a strong seller in Christian bookstores.

FINDING GOD IN THE LORD OF THE RINGS
Authors: Kurt Bruner & Jim Ware
Are the authors correct in their contention that J.R.R. Tolkien wrote his fantasy stories as allegories of biblical truth? Or were his writings merely drawn from his love of magic, myth and fairie stories? And is there really any difference between the sorcery of Gandalf and that of Harry Potter? This review of a book that purports to explain how God is found in Tolkien's trilogy brings an honest assessment of the writings of a man greatly revered in the circles of "Christian" fantasy.

THE PRAYER OF JABEZ
Author: Bruce H. Wilkinson
Is the "prayer of Jabez" (1 Chron. 4:9-10) a legitimate means to move God to act in our favor? Many have testified that, since praying the "prayer of Jabez," they have been blessed in many ways. But are there really formulas for prayer? Does God act upon such formulas? This review exposes the fallacy of thinking that any particular prayer is effective for all men at all times. The desire to formulate prayer is rooted in man's desire to control God and gain "power" over circumstances. While it evokes the name of Jesus, in truth it is akin to witchcraft.

THIS PRESENT DARKNESS
Author: Frank Peretti
Years after this bestseller took the Christian world by storm with its graphic, whimsical and sometimes horrifying stories of demons, fallen angels and Satan's warfare against the Body of Christ, it continues to influence many believers' understanding of spiritual warfare and the demonic realm. But can it be trusted to be biblical? Learn how much of what is taken for granted as truth in these matters is nothing more than tradition gleaned from myths that have little or nothing to do with biblical truth.

THE GOD CODE
Author: Gregg Braden
Just as an artist signs his works, it has been suggested that God has signed His work of Creation by encoding within the DNA of all living things His name according to the ancient Hebrew and Arabic alphabets. A startling discovery if true.
